About Wainuiomata .Net Website

Wainuiomata .Net is a website owned by David Johnson. Let me introduce myself.

I was raised in the far eastern edge of Wainuiomata, living near the Remutaka foothills and scenic Waterworks Valley. It was here that I developed a profound affinity for nature, history, and adventure. This shaped my journey later in life as I became an avid photographer and traveller. Returning to explore the grounds I use to stomp, I realise that my youthful experiences and early explorations here have given me some first-hand knowledge of the area. Recently, I’ve been retracing my steps to the locales I frequented some 50 years ago.

Mission

Wainuiomata .Net serves as a dedicated platform devoted to documenting Wainuiomata’s history while showing off the suburbs natural beauty through photos and videos.

Historical accuracy and attribution

While this website operates independently from any museum or historical society, I am committed to maintaining accuracy and providing sources where necessary. If you come across any errors or information needing a source or requiring a credit, I encourage you to reach out. Below, you’ll find instructions on how to contact me via a contact form. Moreover, you have the opportunity to share your thoughts on any page in the website by leaving a comment on the relevant page. Your contribution or critique is much appreciated.

Why create this website?

I own two popular photo based websites. But I found that my growing collection of Wainuiomata photos to be too large for these other websites as they have a more broad subject range. The result was archived photos sitting idle on a hard drive. With these photos looking for a home, my love for history, and recent expeditions into the regional parks of Wainuiomata, a website seemed like the logical solution. Below are the Wainuiomata pages from my two photo based websites.

Why are there ads?

Like any website, the more revenue it can generate, the more resources can be put back into it. So ads are useful, even if they only pay for the the hosting and maintenance of the website. Hopefully, it could also pay for my morning coffee before embarking on each adventure.
