The Old McKerrow Track offers a useful connection to Mt Crowther Track and the Boys Brigade Camp.
The Old McKerrow Track is an original section of the McKerrow Track that has since been replaced by a connection to the Whakanui Track. It is not an official walk, nevertheless, the old section of the track is maintained to some degree and has red tags to stop stop you wandering off the path. Besides being used to lay bait for possums, it is a useful track that connects Mt McKerrow Track to Mt Crowther Track. There is also a connection to the Boys Brigade Camp. Bivvy Track heads down to this camp and via basic or emergency accommodation.
