There’s no shortage of swimming holes in Wainuiomata; all of them are located in the Wainuiomata River.
All notable natural swimming pools in Wainuiomata are located in the Wainuiomata River. Beginning upstream, (just below the restricted water catchment area), pools in order include: Sledge Track Pool, Swing Bridge Pool, Ultimate Pool, Top Pool, Secret Pool, Cullens Bridge Pool, Trout Pool, Cliff Pool, Lost Pool, Rock Pool, Pipes Pool, Glass Pool, Eel Pool, Faulkes Pool, Mystery Pool, and Green Pool. Beyond that, the river meanders down the Coast Road valley where much of the river is swimmable, but also located on private farmland. The river empties into the south coast where there is a large natural inlet suitable for swimming.
