Camp Wainui, previously called the Boys’ Brigade Camp, is a place that offers camping and adventure.
Camp Wainui, formerly known as the Boys’ Brigade Camp, offers camping, bush walks, and adventure activities. The Boys’ Brigade, an international Christian youth organisation, combines drills and fun activities with Christian teachings.
The organisation has owned the land since the 1940s, when it was purchased from the Scholes family. The extensive property stretches up the hillside and borders the Harry Todd Recreation Reserve and the upper end of Sunny Grove. Much of the area is covered in bush, featuring multiple tracks for walking loops or connecting to larger trails within the Remutaka Forest Park or the Harry Todd Recreation Reserve.
The camp provides a range of accommodation options, including a lodge complex, dormitories, huts, caravan and tent sites, and even a bivouac. Additionally, there is a pavilion and amenities. The camp also features a ropes course and a lagoon suitable for adult swimming.
From the camp, a network of tracks zigzags across the surrounding hillside. Along a walking track called Scholes Creek Track is a scenic waterfall hidden within the bush.
