We have been lately shown a sample of good-looking stone from a quartz reef in a new neighbourhood, that of Wainuiomata. The quartz is white, with grey seams apparently of auriferous arsenical iron pyrites running through it. A small quantity, we are informed, was crushed and yielded at the rate of 1oz 9grs to the ton. The finder is Mr Spencer, the surveyor, and we believe he has obtained a lease of the ground and is going to form a company in a few days.
