Looking at the valley that contains Nikau Creek and the Nikau Creek Track, (circa 2009). This is where the Whakanui Track once traversed. However, the Waterboard successfully got the track relocated to the neighboring valley, where Sunny Grove is located. People still head up this valley however and are able to connect with the current Whakanui Track.
