Most people walking on the Whakanui Track will start at the top of Sunny Grove. But the track actually starts just above Sinclair Cemetery behind Hine Road Recreation Area. However, this part of the track is not well maintained, but it’s still walkable. It follows behind the odd numbered properties on Sunny Grove till it connects with the more commonly treaded path.
