The Stop Bank is a small section of the maintenance track that provided access to the water raceway and pipeline.
On a small stretch of Upper Road, an old maintenance track running alongside Reservoir Road, there stands a stop bank or embankment. This structure was likely constructed to fortify the road and protect buried water pipes. Stop banks are crucial for managing floodwaters, and this particular one spans a natural gully, bolstering its flood control capabilities.
Above the stop bank, on its upper side, lies a swamp where water gathers. There may or may not be a drainage pipe beneath the stop bank to help disperse this collected water. Nevertheless, it is remarkable that the stop bank remains intact despite enduring more than a century of weather and storms.
