Housing development in Wainuiomata started after World War II as the population rapidly expanded. The growing populations’ demands led to an increase in housing construction. Today, Wainuiomata is expanding in Arakura, Parkway, and other areas. While areas already developed, are experiencing a trend toward high density housing replacing older homes that sit on quarter-acre sections.
