Wainuiomata and its surrounding areas have long been dotted with huts and cottages, providing shelter and accommodation in the wilderness and reserves. While many of these huts have now fallen into disrepair or have been demolished, each holds its own story from a time when Wainuiomata was far more remote than it is today.
