In a 1909 photograph capturing the lower dam spillway, an intriguing detail emerges in the corner: a self-portrait of Albert Percy Godber. Notably, Albert was among the pioneering photographers to explore the Wainuiomata area, capturing a series of remarkable images during the period spanning from the 1880s to 1910.
