CITY WATER SUPPLY

STEPS TO AVOID POLLUTION

Several complaints have been made about the possibility of drainage from the tunnelling camp at Wainui polluting the Wellington water supply, and several visits of inspection have been, made by corporation officials gild officers of the Health Department. At last night’s meeting of the City Council it was decided to accede to a request of the Health Department to have the site of the camp moved to below the lower dam. The Mayor explained that the Health Department had asked for this to be done to make sure that there would be no interference with the water supply in the coming summer. So far as the Wainui supply was concerned, there had been no interference with it so far.
