The Suggested Wainui-o-mata Water Supply

Sir, With reference to an article which appeared in your issue of the 18th inst., giving an account of my proceedings in connection with a scheme for obtaining a supply of water from the Wainui-o-mata, I feel it necessary to say that it was entirely unauthorized by me and will feel obliged by your inserting this letter in your paper this evening, I am., &c., W. [Although the publication of the information contained in the article in question was not directly authorized by Mr Clark, yet it was obtained from the most reliable sources and being on a subject of great public interest we of course at once gave it the utmost publicity – Ed.
