On March 25th, a new KFC branch commenced operations in Wainuiomata.
The fast-food giant quietly opened its new store on the corner of The Strand and Fitzherbert Road, bringing one of the world’s most iconic fried chicken brands to the valley. The launch has been met with a wave of local enthusiasm, with long queues and packed parking spaces marking its first weekend of trade.
For many residents, the arrival of KFC represents more than just a new takeaway option, it’s a sign of growth and recognition for a suburb long considered under-served in terms of retail and hospitality offerings. Until now, Wainuiomata locals had to travel to Lower Hutt or Petone for their chicken fix.
The store is a modern build, featuring drive-thru service, digital ordering kiosks, and energy-efficient kitchen equipment in line with KFC New Zealand’s recent sustainability initiatives.
