The Wainuiomata Mitre 10 store is a recent addition to the local community, officially opening its doors on Saturday, 10 May, 2025.
To celebrate its grand opening, the store hosted special promotions, including a $20 voucher for the first 100 customers through the door. The opening weekend also featured family-friendly activities, such as “Easy As Kids Workshops,” providing engaging experiences for younger visitors.
This new store has positively impacted local employment, creating 30 new jobs within the store and an additional 12 positions in the in-store Columbus Coffee café. The café inside Mitre 10 is also next door to McDonalds, offers a convenient spot for customers to relax and enjoy refreshments during their shopping experience. A nice local touch inside the cafe is a large sketch of an old plan showing the proposed Wainuiomata Tunnel and a new main road on the Wainuiomata side of the hill.
