CRASH ON SOLO FLIGHT

WANGANUI AIRMAN KILLED

Sergeant Thomas Victor Marchant, P-.N.Z.A.F., lost his life on Saturday afternoon when the aircraft in which he was the sole occupant crashed during a flight from a South Island air station. His father is Mr. H. W, Marchant, Wanganui.

Sergeant-Pilot Marchant was a son of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Marchant, Fergusson Street, Wanganui, and was aged 23 years. After leaving the Wanganui Technical College he joined the firm of D. A. Morrison and Cd., Ltd., where he served his electrical engineering apprenticeship and passed his examinations with honours.

A brother, Corporal H. Marchant, is serving with the R.N.Z.A.F. in the Pacific as a radio mechanic.
