The first sod in connection with the improvements to the_water supply from Wainuiomata was turned to-day by the Mayor. It is intended to do away with the present water race, from which there is a tremendous leakage, and substitute a line of pipes. This, is is anticipated, will give a very mucb increased supply in the city.
