View of Clay Ridge in Remutaka Forest Park. Clay Ridge can be reached by taking the Clay Ridge Track. Initially the walk is easy but the gradient gradually intensifies as you approach the ridgeline. Along the way, hikers can marvel at the splendid rata trees, possibly in bloom if you do the trek in the early summer months. As you ascend towards the ridge’s summit, extensive vistas of Wainuiomata and even Wellington Harbour unfold.
