A recently discovered rectangular concrete slab in the Wainuiomata bush features a small metal door engraved with the letters “W W”, possibly standing for Wainuiomata Waterworks or simply Water Works. The door may once have provided access to a valve connected to the Orongorongo pipeline. That’s just speculation for now, but if you have any insights into its purpose or origin, feel free to share them in the comments below.
