This view from the 1880s looks down on the Dick family property. The house in the foreground, once home to members of the Dick family, stood at what is now 19 Moores Valley Road. The surrounding trees are remnants from the original homestead, which was destroyed by fire in 1938. A new building was soon erected on the site and became home to the Shady Dell Dairy from the 1940s for many years. Today, it is a private residence.

In the background is Ashfield, another Dick family home, located near what is now 17 Rowe Parade. Built in the 1860s, Ashfield remained in use until 1929. During the 1920s, the farm it stood on was known as Holly Farm while the Jones family occupied it. Some of the original trees around the site still survive. Rowe Parade was later constructed near the location of the white shed visible in the photo.
