View of Homedale in 1945. Housing development had just begun, with several older farmhouses still visible. The open space once known as Bottom Field, by Wainuiomata School students was used as a horse racing track by a farmer in earlier times, and is still visible in this photo. Today, it forms part of Poole Crescent Reserve.
At this time, Wainuiomata School consisted of a single classroom, with the headmaster’s residence located next door.
