Interior view of the old O-K Venturi Meter Hut (Orongorongo Meter House) located beside the old Maintenance Road, also known as the O-K Pipe Track. This small building housed the first venturi meter used to measure the flow of water through the O-K pipeline. The hut remains concealed in the bush, although some long term residents of Hine Road and Sunny Grove still know its location. Decades ago the structure was more visible, before the surrounding vegetation gradually reclaimed the site.
Around 1965, the new O-K Venturi Meter House was constructed on Maintenance Road just above the Wainuiomata Chlorine Plant. It contained four venturi meters which worked together to provide a more accurate measurement of the water flowing through the O-K pipeline.
