The water catchment that supplied Wainuiomata with water was located in Skerretts Creek in the mid 1950s to early 1960s. Today, there are a lot of artefacts left in this general location. Pictured is a pipe that can clearly be seen near the intersection of the Whakanui Track and Skerretts Creek.
