Sledge Track Pool, is the uppermost accessible swimming spot in the Wainuiomata River.
Sledge Track Pool also known as Discreet Pool and Hidden Pool is a natural swimming hole in the Wainuiomata River. In the past, the pool was out of bounds to the public due to being near the water catchment area, hence the old names, ‘discreet’ and ‘hidden’. Today, many know it as Sledge Track Pool as access is gained from Sledge Track. It is a natural gem being a large swimming area with a rock outcrop providing easy entry into the water. Slightly further down from the pool is another smaller pool, a good option if there are too many swimming in the main area. However, the pool is rarely used due to being at the eastern edge of Reservoir Valley requiring a 20 minute walk.
