Ultimate Pool in Wainuiomata

Ultimate Pool as the name suggests, is considered the best natural swimming hole in Wainuiomata.

Ultimate Pool is located in Wainuiomata Regional Park. It is one of half a dozen other nearby pools. This area is popular with locals during the summer months and the weekends, but you can often have Ultimate Pool to yourself on weekdays. It is located upstream from Top Pool.

You can access Ultimate Pool from both sides of the Gums Loop Walk. The primary entrance is indicated by signage along Reservoir Road. Another, less familiar entrance leads to the opposite side of the pool and Wainuiomata River. This entry point is reachable via a small track branching off from Gums Loop Walk near Gums Loop Meadow. Although unmarked, the track is easily identifiable.
