Ultimate Pool is located upstream from Top Pool. It is arguably the best pool for swimming in Wainuiomata Regional Park.
Ultimate Pool is situated upstream from Top Pool, nestled at the edge of a gum forest. It can be accessed from Reservoir Road or via a small track branching off the Gums Loop Walk.

Ultimate Pool is located upstream from Top Pool. It is arguably the best pool for swimming in Wainuiomata Regional Park.
The most notable difference between the two photos is the absence of the large tree that once clung to the bank.
Today, Ultimate Pool is the most popular swimming spot in Wainuiomata Regional Park, largely due to its close proximity to the park entrance. Additionally, Top Pool was filled in with rocks and gravel by the Council many years ago, reducing its suitability as a swimming area.
