Catchpool Stream, a tributary of the Wainuiomata River, winds its way through the peaceful Catchpool Valley at the entrance to Remutaka Forest Park. Easily accessible from the main road, the stream is bordered by native bush and forms the backdrop to the Catchpool Valley campsite, a popular spot for overnight stays before setting off on hikes deeper into the park.

The area is popular with families, with picnic spots and walking tracks close by. During warmer months, the stream forms a series of shallow pools that are well suited to paddling and swimming. Its flow increases noticeably downstream, after Grace’s Stream joins it in Catchpool Valley.
