Hair Stream is a tributary of Wainuiomata River. It was also known as Camp Creek, as the creek flowed through an area designated as a transit point for temporary accommodations including huts and tents. This occurred between 1945 and 1955, notably within the vicinity of the Empire / Palliser Hotel area, now transformed into the contemporary residential neighborhood known as Pākura Place.

Furthermore, from the 1940s to the 1960s, the river’s origin functioned as a vital water catchment area, supplying water to the suburb. Presently, this region is recognized as the Wainuiomata Scenic Reserve. Over time, it has reverted to its natural state, boasting the presence of several large native trees.

Today, the creek meanders through the reserve, tracing its path along and under Hair Street, before passing through a tunnel beneath The Village. Emerging behind properties, it eventually converges with the Wainuiomata River.
