The Wainuiomata Mall was a vibrant hub for shopping, especially on Friday nights when it opened late. It attracted numerous families completing their weekly or weekend shopping. Over time, the mall experienced a decrease in patronage and started falling into disrepair. It was then purchased by Progressive Enterprises (now known as Woolworths) who built a big supermarket and parking area on the site.
