Sledge Track in Wainuiomata takes you through native bush, offering panoramic views of the Wainuiomata valley below. Beginning and ending at the site of Mackay Cottage, it passes by the Pa Harakeke, an area of flax. From there, it turns right, tracing the path of a logging track established by the Sinclair family in the mid-1800s. Ascending amidst rejuvenating vegetation alongside Sledge Track Creek, the trail eventually loops back towards the cottage site.

The track provides a shorter loop trail around a wetland area planted with flax. The complete walk takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes for a round trip. For a more extensive and challenging hike, you can merge this track with the Tana Umaga Track. This combined route also offers the convenience of exiting nearer to the entrance of Wainuiomata Regional Park and the car park.
