Homedale Road, named after the oldest area in Wainuiomata, means a house in a dale or valley.
History & naming
Homedale is the oldest part of Wainuiomata, so naming a road after the suburb likely indicated its importance. Perhaps second only to Main Road, from which Homedale Road branches off. The road’s importance may be linked to Wainuiomata Primary School, which runs along half the street and has an entrance here. The school has a lot of history being established way back in 1857, with the street being opened in 1957, a century later.
