The work of unloading the Corporation water plant from the barque Isle of Erin goes on apace.

Last evening, a long train of twenty-one trucks, each containing two pipes of the largest size, left the Railway Wharf for the Lower Hutt.

The various contracts for laying the pipes there, and in the streets of this city, seem to be progressing rapidly, and the anticipated arrival of the Wigtonshire with another consignment from Glasgow will prevent the necessity of even the slightest delay.

Wellington water is so bad that her citizens are impatient to have the pure stream from the Wainuiomata laid on to their houses.
