Camp Bay lies on the eastern shore of Wellington Harbour immediately south of Eastbourne and just beyond Burdans Gate. Although not part of Wainuiomata itself, it sits at the western foot of the ridge separating the harbour from Gollans Valley and the wider Wainuiomata district. An old ridge route extends from the Wainuiomata Hill area towards Pencarrow Head, while a road from Camp Bay crosses inland towards Gollans Valley. This makes Camp Bay part of the broader historical and geographical landscape linking Eastbourne, Gollans Valley, and Wainuiomata.
