New Settlement Area?

Gollans Valley, at the back of Eastbourne, may yet have its hundreds of acres covered with houses, although at one time there was talk of turning it into a sewage farm.

Last night, the Eastbourne Borough Council had a brief discussion on the settlement aspect, the subject arising from a remark by Councillor S. F. Fisher that Eastbourne was now nearly built out.

Councillor S. G. Shearer said the council had considered Gollans Valley years ago, and he still thought it was worth consideration. The owner would previously have given an area of land for housing if an access tunnel to bring the valley within a few minutes of Eastbourne had been put through.

The council decided to request its officers to give the matter consideration.
